From one table by the sea to seven apartments
More than forty years on the Bakar waterfront – through good times and hard ones, always with the same table by the sea.
1982.
A restaurant on the waterfront
On Bakar's main promenade, right by the sea, we open our restaurant – back then under the name Hajduk. Over the decades it changed and adapted to its guests, but what matters most stayed the same: fresh fish, home cooking and a table by the sea.
1994.
Hard times
The war years, and then the closure of the coking plant that employed more than 800 workers in a town of just 1,580 people. Many left – we stayed, held on and kept going.
2016.
The first apartment – Antonia
We start a new story. In the attic of the house we create apartment Antonia, partly with objects collected over 34 years of running the restaurant. Guests sleep above the sea and have breakfast with us on the waterfront.
2020. – 2025.
From one to seven
With a lot of hard work and love, one apartment grew into seven. Neither the pandemic nor years of reconstruction of the town's sewage system could stop us.
Today
A place to come back to
Today Vallis is a place where guests always feel welcome: a family restaurant on the waterfront and seven apartments a few steps away. Our strength comes from our family and from the guests who have been coming back for years.
Our hard-working family and the happy guests who have supported us all these years give us the strength to keep going and create new stories.
